Hawks down No. 5 Ferris State; will meet Lewis in regional finals

Rockhurst rallied in the final two sets to post a five-set victory over fifth-ranked Ferris State (25-21, 18-25, 16-25, 25-22, 15-10) in the NCAA Midwest Regional semifinals Friday night in Springfield, Missouri.

The 22nd-ranked Hawks, 32-6 overall, have won their last nine matches and will meet 25th-ranked Lewis in the Midwest Regional championship match at 6:00 p.m. Saturday. Rockhurst and the Flyers also met in the Midwest Regional finals last year at Lewis with the Hawks claiming a 3-1 victory.

Alyssa Woodman led the Hawks with 14 kills and 15 digs. Karli Reichert collected 13 kills, 17 digs and five blocks. Mary Rolf totaled 10 kills and five blocks. Emily Matio posted seven kills and seven blocks. Kalie Arnold finished with a team-high 30 digs. Dani Prusha tacked on 40 assists, 28 digs and six kills.

Set One: Rockhurst 25, Ferris State 21
The Hawks ended the set on an 8-4 run to break a 17-all deadlock. Woodman and Reichert combined for seven kills. Arnold tallied 11 digs.

Set Two: Ferris State 25, Rockhurst 18
Ferris State had a .315 hitting percentage with 20 kills and only three attack errors. Reichert posted six kills. Prusha and Arnold combined for 14 digs.

Set Three: Ferris State 25, Rockhurst 16
The Bulldogs jumped out to a 17-6 lead. The Hawks went on a 9-3 run to cut the Ferris lead to 20-15. Woodman collected five kills and four digs.

Set Four: Rockhurst 25, Ferris State 22
Rockhurst went on a 7-2 run to take an 18-11 lead. Reichert closed out the set with a kill. Rolf and Matio combined for seven kills.

Set Five: Rockhurst 15, Ferris State 10
Rockhurst closed out the match on an 8-3 run. Rolf and Reichert combined for four kills.

Player of the Match
Dani Prusha. The sophomore setter averaged 8.0 assists and 5.60 digs per set. She had nine digs in the first set and added eight digs in the second set.
