The Rockhurst women's soccer team is moving on to the semifinals of the GLVC Tournament after posting a 2-0 victory over the McKendree Bearcats Sunday in Lebanon, Illinois.
The seventh-seeded Hawks (10-7-1) will face third-seeded Southern Indiana (12-5-2) at 6:00 p.m. EST Friday in Jeffersonville, Indiana in the first of two GLVC women's semifinal games. Truman State and Bellarmine will meet in the second semifinal at 8:30 p.m. EST Friday.
Mackenzie Moore scored her second goal of the season in the 35th minute to give Rockhurst a 1-0 lead. Moore knocked in a shot from 10 yards out inside the right post with assists from
Maddie Dierkes and
Cate Sommerhoff.
McKenna Leetch scored the Hawks' second goal in the 57th minute. Leetch found the nets from 14 yards out off passes from
Elle Guttmann and Moore. It was Leetch's sixth goal of the season.
McKendree outshot the Hawks 12-10. Moore and Sommerhoff each had three shots to lead the Hawks.
Stephanie Ostrander and Leetch added two shots apiece.
Rosie Breheny stopped five Bearcat shots to collect her third shutout of the season.
