Box Score Strong outside shooting down the stretch carried William Jewell to a 64-61 victory over Rockhurst Thursday night at RU's Mason-Halpin Field House.
The Cardinals made two late 3-pointers to rally from a 55-51 deficit in the final six minutes. Jewell connected on four consecutive free throws in the final 1:39 to hold off the Hawks, who turned over the ball with 31 seconds left trailing 62-61.
Rockhurst outscored Jewell 16-8 in the second quarter to take a 30-26 halftime lead. The Hawks widened their lead to seven points, 49-42, late in the third quarter.
Madeline Ronshausen paced Rockhurst with 14 points on six-of-15 shooting. Jillian Myers posted 10 points, five rebounds and five assists. Briahtia Sebek scored 10 points off the bench. Lauren Krissman added nine points and three assists.
Rockhurst shot 41.4 percent from the field, while the Cardinals finished with a 42.3 percent field goal percentage.
The Hawks (6-6, 2-2 GLVC) host Indianapolis on Saturday.
