Hawks travel to Indiana to face Pumas

The Rockhurst Hawks (14-7, 8-5 GLVC) meet the Saint Joseph's Pumas (10-13, 6-7 GLVC) in a Great Lakes Valley Conference inter-division matchup today at 5:30 p.m. in Rensselaer, Indiana.

Saint Joseph's won their last meeting, 77-69, in Kansas City on Feb. 13, 2016. The Pumas lead the all-time series, 7-2.

The Hawks are currently in second place in the GLVC West Division with an 8-5 league mark. Senior guard Mary Dineen ranks second in the GLVC and 42nd in the nation in scoring (17.9). Dineen also ranks sixth in free throw percentage (83.3) and 13th in assists (2.9) in the GLVC. The preseason All-American has scored 1,638 points in her career at Rockhurst.

Junior guard Jillian Myers is first in steals (3.0), fifth in assists (3.8), 13th in blocked shots (0.85) and ninth in assist/ turnover ratio (1.2) in the GLVC. Sophomore forward Marisa Lowe ranks 15th in scoring (13.1), third in 3-point field goals made (2.6) and 12th in 3-point field goal percentage (38.9) in the GLVC. Sophomore center Kaci German has moved into 18th in rebounding (5.3) in the GLVC. Freshman center Rachel Holden ranks seventh in blocked shots (1.2) in the GLVC.

Rockhurst ranks second in 3-point field goals made (7.5), second in field goal percentage defense (36.7), second in 3-point field goal percentage defense (28.7), fourth in blocked shots (4.4), fourth in free throw percentage (73.7), fourth in scoring offense (72.3), fourth in scoring margin (7.2) and fifth in rebounding margin (3.2) in the GLVC.

The Hawks opened the fourth period on a 16-2 run to break away for a 67-57 victory over Avila Monday night at Avila's Mabee Fieldhouse. The Hawks drained three consecutive three-pointers to take a 65-49 lead. Marisa Lowe's third three-pointer of the night capped the rally with 4:34 left to play. Lowe led the Hawks with 13 points and eight rebounds. Mary Dineen posted 12 points and four assists. Jillian Myers posted 12 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals. Morgan Harwood finished with nine points and seven rebounds. Rockhurst shot 32.8 percent from the field and 94.1 percent at the free-throw line.

Rockhurst plays at Indianapolis on Saturday, Feb. 11. The Hawks close out the regular season at Quincy (Feb. 16), at Truman State (Feb. 18) and at William Jewell (Feb. 23).
