Hawks end regular season at William Jewell

Mary Dineen ranks second in the GLVC and 26th in the nation in scoring.
The Rockhurst Hawks (17-8, 11-6 GLVC) meet the William Jewell Cardinals (13-12, 9-8 GLVC) in a Great Lakes Valley Conference West Division matchup at 5:30 p.m. today at the Mabee Center in Liberty, Mo. Rockhurst won their last meeting, 70-61, in Kansas City on Dec. 7, 2016. Jewell has won nine of the last 14 meetings in the all-time series.

ABOUT ROCKHURST: The Hawks have clinched second place in the GLVC West Division with an 11-6 league mark. Senior guard Mary Dineen ranks second in the GLVC and 26th in the nation in scoring (18.8). Dineen also ranks third in free throw percentage (85.6), 11th in assists (3.0), 16th in 3-point field goals made (1.8) and 18th in rebounding (5.3) in the GLVC. The preseason All-American ranks second in career scoring at Rockhurst with 1,731 points. Junior guard Jillian Myers ranks second in the GLVC and 18th in the nation in steals (2.9). Meyers also ranks eighth in assists (3.4), ninth in blocked shots (1.0) and ninth in assist-turnover ratio (1.2) in the GLVC. Sophomore forward Marisa Lowe ranks 19th in scoring (12.5) and third in 3-point field goals made (2.5) in the GLVC. Freshman center Rachel Holden is seventh in blocked shots (1.0) in the GLVC. Rockhurst ranks second in 3-point field goals made (7.5), second in 3-point field goal percentage defense (29.0), second in free throw percentage (76.5), second in field goal percentage defense (37.6), fourth in blocked shots (4.2), fourth in scoring offense (71.8), fourth in rebounding margin (3.8) and fifth in scoring margin (6.0) in the GLVC.

LAST GAME: Rockhurst suffered its first road loss in its last five road games, falling at Truman State, 87-61, Saturday in Kirksville, Mo. The Hawks never led in the game, falling behind 25-14 after the first period and 42-28 at halftime. Rockhurst was outscored in the paint, 38-10, and allowed 24 points off turnovers. Mary Dineen led the Hawks with 16 points, four rebounds and six assists. The senior guard made five-of-13 shots and five-of-six free throws. Marisa Lowe scored 14 points behind four-of-six 3-point shooting. Rachel Holden posted a team-high six rebounds and two blocked shots. Rockhurst shot 36.5 percent from the field (19 of 52) and 76.2 percent at the free-throw line (16 of 21).

GLVC TOURNAMENT: The Hawks will be the No. 5 seed in the GLVC Tournament and will host the No. 12 seed in the first round of the GLVC Tournament at 1 p.m. Sunday at Mason-Halpin Field House.
