Hawks overcome slow start to post win at Indy

Mary Dineen scored 28 points to become the No. 2 scorer in Rockhurst history.

Rockhurst overcame a slow start to pull away for a 74-68 victory over Indianapolis Saturday in Indianapolis.

The Hawks (16-7, 10-5 GLVC) missed 20 of their first 21 field goals as Indianapolis jumped out to a 15-4 lead early in the second period. Rockhurst closed the first half on a 24-15 run behind 13 points from senior guard Mary Dineen.

Dineen scored 11 points in the fourth period to finish with 28 points for the second game in a row. She made eight-of-17 field goals and nine-of-11 free throws. Dineen moved into second place in career scoring at Rockhurst with 1,694 points.

Marisa Lowe posted 17 points and six rebounds. Morgan Harwood scored 12 points on six-of-six shooting. Jillian Myers posted seven points, four rebounds, three assists and five steals.

Rockhurst shot 40.0 percent from the field (24 of 60) and 86.4 percent at the free-throw line (19 of 22).

Indianapolis finished 50.0 percent from the field (26 of 52) and 60.0 percent (nine of 15) from the foul line. Nicole Anderson led the Greyhounds with 30 points and 13 rebounds.

The Hawks play at Quincy on Thursday (Feb. 16).
