Guards carry Hawks to 62-47 win over Northwest Missouri

Madeline Ronshausen and Jillian Myers combined for 30 points to lead Rockhurst to a 62-47 victory over Northwest Missouri State Friday night on the Missouri Western University campus in Saint Joseph, Missouri.

Ronshausen led the Hawks with 16 points behind four-of-eight 3-point shooting. The sophomore guard canned three 3-pointers in the first half to help give the Hawks a 27-17 halftime lead. Myers, a senior guard, finished with 14 points, six rebounds and four assists.


The Hawks scored the first 10 points of the fourth quarter to take a 57-31 lead with 7:10 left in the game. The Bearcats closed the game on a 16-5 run.


Starters Kaci German and Tracy Monahan combined for 10 points and 11 rebounds. Rachel Holden, Morgan Harwood and Mary Leigh Rock came off the bench to combine for 12 points and 14 rebounds.


Rockhurst shot 40.7 percent from the field (22 of 54) and 63.2 percent from the foul line (12 of 19). Northwest Missouri hit 15 of 59 shots (25.4 percent) and 12 of 22 free throws (54.5 percent).


The Hawks (4-1) play at Missouri Western Saturday night.
