Hawks wrap up road trip at Southern Indiana

The Rockhurst Hawks (8-3, 3-1 GLVC) meet Southern Indiana (11-2, 3-0 GLVC) at 1 p.m. today at the Physical Activities Center in Evansville, Indiana.

The Screaming Eagles won their last meeting, 68-54, at Rockhurst on Jan. 7, 2016. Southern Indiana leads the all-time series, 11-4. Rockhurst's last victory in the series was back in January of 2012 at Rockhurst.

Senior guard Mary Dineen leads the GLVC in scoring (19.9). Dineen is averaging 23.0 points and 4.0 assists in her last four games. Dineen also ranks sixth in 3-point field goals made (2.1) and seventh in free throw percentage (83.0) in the GLVC. The preseason All-American has scored 1,481 points in her career at Rockhurst.

Junior guard Jillian Myers ranks fifth in steals (2.4), 10th in assists (3.45) and 10th in assist/turnover ratio (1.2) in the GLVC. Sophomore forward Marisa Lowe is tied for 12th in 3-point field goals made (1.8) in the GLVC. Lowe has scored 39 points (13.0 pg) in her last three games. Freshman center Rachel Holden ranks fourth in blocked shots (1.4) in the GLVC.

Rockhurst ranks second in 3-point field goals made (7.55), second in blocked shots (5.1), third in field goal percentage defense (35.2), third in free throw percentage (74.2), fourth in scoring margin (13.6), fourth in rebounding margin (8.0) and fifth in scoring offense (74.9) in the GLVC.

The Hawks saw their six-game winning streak end at fourth-ranked Bellarmine, falling to the Knights 81-75 Thursday night. Mary Dineen led the Hawks with 27 points and four assists. Marisa Lowe scored 12 points. Morgan Harwood tallied nine points and four rebounds. Rachel Holden collected eight points, five rebounds and two blocked shots. Kaci German added seven points and 10 rebounds.

The Hawks return home next week to face McKendree (Jan. 12) and Illinois Springfield (Jan. 14). Rockhurst has a perfect 7-0 record in home games. The Hawks close out the month with road games at Missouri S&T (Jan. 19) and Drury (Jan. 21), followed by home games vs. Missouri-St. Louis (Jan. 26) and Maryville (Jan. 28). Rockhurst opens February with home games against Lewis and Wisconsin-Parkside before closing out the regular season with six road games.
