Fourth-ranked Knights end Hawks' winning streak

Rockhurst saw its six-game winning streak end at fourth-ranked Bellarmine, falling to the Knights 81-75 Thursday night in Louisville, Kentucky.

The Hawks (8-3, 3-1 GLVC) turned the ball over 23 times, as Rockhurst allowed 22 points off turnovers. Bellarmine also outscored the Hawks, 42-26, in the paint.

Rockhurst jumped out to a 13-4 lead in the first period and led 16-14 going into the second period. The Knights outscored the Hawks by nine in the second period to take a 37-30 halftime lead. Rockhurst went on an 8-0 run in the fourth period to cut Bellarmine's lead to six points.

Mary Dineen led the Hawks with 27 points, four rebounds and four assists. Marisa Lowe scored 12 points. Morgan Harwood tallied nine points and four rebounds. Rachel Holden collected eight points, five rebounds and two blocked shots. Kaci German added seven points and 10 rebounds.

Rockhurst shot 45.5 percent from the field (25 of 55) and 67.9 percent from the foul line (19 of 28). The Knights (11-1, 3-0 GLVC) made 31-of-74 field goals (41.9 percent) and 15-of-19 free throws (78.9 percent). All five of Bellarmine's starters scored in double figures.

The Hawks next play at Southern Indiana on Saturday afternoon.
