Dineen guides Hawks to 78-71 victory over UMSL

Mary Dineen led the Hawks with 24 points.

Mary Dineen scored 24 points to lead Rockhurst to a 78-71 victory over Missouri-St. Louis Thursday night at Mason-Halpin Field House.

Dineen made seven-of-11 field goals and eight-of-nine free throws. She scored seven points in the fourth period, including making three free throws in the final minute.

The Hawks (12-5, 7-3 GLVC) never trailed in the game. Rockhurst shot 45.3 percent from the field (24 of 53) and 64.7 percent at the free-throw line (22 of 34).

Marisa Lowe posted 14 points and six rebounds. Jillian Myers collected 12 points, six rebounds, six assists and three steals. Morgan Harwood added 10 points and five rebounds. Dineen added five rebounds and four assists.

UMSL (9-9, 4-6 GLVC) shot 37.7 percent from the field and 76.9 percent from the foul line.

The Hawks host Maryville at 1 p.m. on Saturday (Jan. 28).
