Hawks face road test at Missouri S&T

Marisa Lowe ranks 18th in scoring and third in 3-point field goals made in the GLVC.
The Rockhurst Hawks (10-4, 5-2 GLVC) meet the Missouri S&T Lady Miners (6-9, 1-6 GLVC)  at 5:30 p.m. tonight in Rolla, Mo., in a Great Lakes Valley Conference West Division matchup.

The Hawks won last year's game at Rockhurst, 60-59, for their sixth win in their seven meetings. Missouri S&T leads the all-time series, 19-7.

Rockhurst is currently in second place in the GLVC West Division with a 5-2 league mark. Senior guard Mary Dineen ranks second in the GLVC and 31st in the nation in scoring (18.6). Dineen also ranks ninth in 3-point field goals made (2.0) and fifth in free throw percentage (82.8) in the GLVC. The preseason All-American has scored 1,522 points in her career at Rockhurst.

Junior guard Jillian Myers is fifth in steals (2.6), eighth in assists (3.4) and 10th in assist/turnover ratio (1.1) in the GLVC. Sophomore forward Marisa Lowe ranks 18th in scoring (12.6) and third in 3-point field goals made (2.6) in the GLVC. Lowe has scored 68 points (22.7 pg) in her last three games. Freshman guard Madeline Ronshausen has moved into eighth in 3-point field goal percentage (42.6) and 15th in 3-point field goals made (1.6) in the GLVC. Ronshausen has scored 30 points (15.0 pg) in her last two games. Freshman center Rachel Holden ranks sixth in blocked shots (1.3) in the GLVC.

Rockhurst ranks first in 3-point field goals made (8.5), first in field goal percentage defense (35.8), second in 3-point field goal percentage (37.4), second in 3-point field goal percentage defense (25.5), third in blocked shots (4.5), third in free throw percentage (74.2), fourth in scoring offense (75.6), fourth in scoring margin (12.5), fourth in assist/turnover ratio and fifth in rebounding margin (5.0) in the GLVC.

The Hawks connected on 12 three-point field goals in rolling an 86-66 victory over Illinois Springfield Saturday in Kansas City. Rockhurst shot 50 percent from the field, including hitting 12-of-23 three-point field goals. Marisa Lowe led the Hawks with 22 points on eight-of-13 shooting. Madeline Ronshausen scored 17 points on five-of-seven shooting. Lowe and Ronshausen combined for 10 three-pointers on just 15 attempts. Mary Dineen posted 15 points, four assists and two steals. Jillian Myers tallied nine points, four rebounds, six assists and four steals. Kaci German collected eight points and eight rebounds.

Rockhurst closes out its quick road trip on Saturday at Drury.  The Hawks return home to host Missouri-St. Louis  on Jan. 26 and Maryville  on Jan. 28. Rockhurst opens February with home games against Lewis and Wisconsin-Parkside before closing out the regular season with six road games.
