Box Score Rockhurst drained 17 three-point field goals and sank 10-of-12 free throws in overtime to carry the Hawks to a 99-96 victory over Missouri S&T Thursday night in Rolla, Mo.
Kaleb Warner led the Hawks with 30 points on 11-of-15 shooting. He hit seven-of-10 three-pointers. Alex Hagan and Malachi Nix each finished with 21 points while combining for 13 points in overtime.
"I'm very proud of the way we showed resiliency after the game got taken to overtime,"Â said Rockhurst coach Drew Diener. "I thought they did a great job of penetrating and finding shooters. They beat us on the offensive glass quite regularly, which is something we've been trying to avoid. All in all, it's a great road victory for our team."
The Hawks (10-6, 4-4 GLVC) led 82-66 with five minutes left to play. The Miners closed the second half on a 16-2 run to force overtime.
Nix made 11-of-12 free throws, and tallied six rebounds and five assists. Connor Evans added eight points, six rebounds and three assists. Travis House scored eight points. Mason Loewen added eight points, four assists and two steals.
Rockhurst shot 52.5 percent from the field (31 of 59) and 50.0 percent on three-point field goals (17 of 34). Missouri S&T (7-8, 1-7 GLVC) made 37-of-80 field goals (46.3 percent) and 11-of-30 three-pointers (36.7 percent).
