Box Score 2 Rockhurst scored six runs in the fifth inning in posting a 7-4 victory over Saint Joseph's in the first game of a conference doubleheader Sunday in Westfield, Indiana.
Gabbie Boerema tripled home one run and
Lexie Zuniga collected a two-run single to give the Hawks a 5-1 lead in the fifth.
Lonnie Groves and
Emily Truitt added RBI singles.
Zuniga led the Hawks with two hits and two RBIs.
Alex Hill added two hits to the nine-hit Rockhurst attack
Bridgette Sappington (5-7) allowed four runs on eight hits over 7.0 innings.
Saint Joseph's won second game, 13-5. The Pumas scored four runs in the first and six more in the sixth. Groves drove in two runs with a single in the third.
Madison Wagner hit a two-run home run in the sixth. Groves and
Caroline Lipp each had two hits.
Shannon Greene (3-7) took the loss.
The Hawks (8-14, 1-3 GLVC) play a doubleheader at Northwest Missouri State on Tuesday (March 15).
