Box Score Rockhurst battled eighth-ranked Lewis to the end before falling to the Flyers, 81-78, Thursday night in Romeoville, Illinois.
The Hawks connected on 14 three-pointers but needed a 15th trey in the final seconds to force overtime. Mary Dineen barely missed a game-tying 3-point shot on the last play of the game.
Rockhurst rallied from a nine-point deficit in the final four minutes to tie the score at 76-all on a jumper by Lauren Meyers with 1:13 left. Lewis took the lead for good with 45 seconds left on a layup by Mariah Brawner-Henley. The Hawks missed two-of-four free throws in the final 38 seconds.
Marisa Lowe led the Hawks with 20 points on six-of-nine shooting from behind the 3-point line. Meyers scored 14 points to go over 1,000 career points. She also posted seven rebounds, three assists and three blocks.
Dineen scored 14 points on five-of-17 shooting. Jillian Myers collected 10 points, three assists and two steals. Brittany Meyer added 10 points and three assists off the bench.
Rockhurst shot 48.3 percent from the field on 28-of-58 shooting. The Hawks made 14-of-31 shots from 3-point range.
Lewis made 34-of-61 field goals (55.7 percent) and four-of-nine 3-point shots. Brawner-Henley paced the Flyers with 29 points and 14 rebounds.
The Hawks, 12-8 and 5-7 in the GLVC, play at Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday (February 6).
