Hawks face UW-Parkside in GLVC Tournament

The seventh-seeded Rockhurst Hawks host the 10th-seeded Wisconsin-Parkside Rangers in a first-round game in the 2016 Great Lakes Valley Conference Women's Basketball Tournament at 1 p.m. Sunday (February 28) at Mason-Halpin Field House.

This marks the second appearance in the GLVC Tournament for the Hawks. The Rangers won their last meeting, 64-58, earlier this season at Parkside. The Rangers lead the all-time series, 10-0.

Junior guard Mary Dineen ranks fourth in scoring (18.2), second in 3-point field goals made (2.8), third in free throw percentage (86.6) and sixth in 3-point field goal percentage (45.3) in the GLVC. Nationally, Dineen ranks 13th in 3-point field goal percentage, 24th in free throw percentage and 38th in scoring. Sophomore guard Jillian Myers leads the GLVC and ranks fifth nationally in steals (3.5). Myers also stands second in assist/turnover ratio and sixth in assists (4.3) in the GLVC.

Senior forward Lauren Meyers stands 15th in scoring (12.6), 13th in rebounding (6.2) and 12th in blocks (1.1) in the GLVC. Sophomore forward Marisa Lowe ranks 29th in scoring (10.2), third in 3-point field goals made (2.7) and eighth in 3-point field goal percentage (41.7) in the GLVC. Junior center Haleigh Cindrich ranks third in blocked shots (1.5) in the GLVC.

Rockhurst leads the GLVC in 3-point field goals made (9.4). The Hawks rank second in free throw percentage (75.7), blocked shots (4.4) and assist-turnover ratio in the GLVC.

Rockhurst rallied to post a 75-70 victory over William Jewell Thursday at Mason-Halpin to clinch a berth in the GLVC Tournament. Kendall Hart scored 11 of her season-high 18 points in the fourth quarter to help the Hawks outscore the Cardinals 19-12 in the fourth period. Mary Dineen led the Hawks with 19 points. Lauren Meyers collected 17 points and eight rebounds. Marisa Lowe tallied 12 points and five rebounds.

The Rangers are coming off a 66-60 loss at Lewis Thursday night. Senior forward Stephanie Furr led Parkside with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Furr ranks 11th in scoring (13.2) and 15th in rebounding in the GLVC. Senior guard Kristin Conniff ranks 24th in scoring (11.1) in the GLVC. Senior center Jessica Prince ranks 11th in rebounding (6.5) in the GLVC. Jacob Yorg is in his third season as Parkside's head coach.
