Box Score Rockhurst broke away in the second half to post an 18-12 victory over Colorado State-Pueblo in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opener for both schools Saturday at Bourke Field.
The Hawks (2-1, 1-0 RMAC) scored four consecutive goals to open the second half to take a 14-8 lead with 5:22 left in the third period. Rockhurst outscored the ThunderWolves 8-4 in the second half.
Jake Martin and
Collin Fischer each finished with four goals and two assists to pace the Rockhurst attack.
Michael Beckham added four goals and one assist.
Christian Schveninger scored two goals. Dan Shovlain,
Elijah Gaea,
Jake Hardin and
Trenton Armitage also scored goals for the Hawks.
Ian Meister won 23-of-33 faceoffs and posted a team-high 15 ground balls.
Alex Pfeil and
Jamison Boggio combined for 12 saves.
Rockhurst outshot Pueblo 54-35. Beckham led the Hawks with 12 shots. Martin collected nine shots. Fischer tallied seven shots. Hardin and Schveninger added six shots apiece.
The Hawks host Adams State on Sunday, March 6.
