Box Score Rockhurst rallied to post a 75-70 victory over William Jewell Thursday night at Mason-Halpin Field House to clinch a berth in the 2016 Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament.
The Hawks, 14-12 and 7-11 in the GLVC, are the seventh seed in the GLVC Tournament and will host 10th-seeded Wisconsin-Parkside on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Kendall Hart scored 11 of her season-high 18 points in the fourth quarter to help the Hawks outscore the Cardinals 19-12 in the fourth period. Hart drained three 3-pointers in a three-minute period to give Rockhurst a 66-63 lead with 5:42 left in the game. Hart gave the Hawks a 73-68 lead with a jumper with 25 seconds left.
Mary Dineen led the Hawks with 19 points on seven-of-18 shooting, including three-of-10 shots from behind the 3-point line. Lauren Meyers collected 17 points and eight rebounds. Marisa Lowe tallied 12 points and five rebounds. Jillian Myers added five assists and five steals.
The Hawks jumped out to a 23-13 lead after the first quarter. William Jewell went on an 18-0 run in the second period to take a 40-33 halftime lead.
Rockhurst shot 40.0 percent from the field (24 of 60) and 35.3 percent on 3-point shots (12 of 34. William Jewell made 25-of-55 field goals (45.5 percent) and 6-of-15 three-pointers. Blair Klostermann paced the Cardinals with 18 points.
