Box Score Truman State overcame a fourth-period rally by Rockhurst to edge the Hawks, 65-60, Saturday at Mason-Halpin Field House.
The Bulldogs closed the game on a 6-0 run after Rockhurst took a 60-59 lead on a Haleigh Cindrich free throw with 1:53 left. The Hawks missed their final three shots and two free throws over the final 73 seconds.
Jillian Myers hit a 3-pointer to cap a 14-0 run by Rockhurst to give the Hawks a 57-56 lead with 5:13 left. A layup by Lauren Meyers gave the Hawks a 59-57 lead at the 4:23 mark.
Meyers led the Hawks with 17 points on seven-of-12 shooting, including three-of-four shots from behind the 3-point line. Myers collected 15 points, six rebounds and six steals. Mary Dineen added nine points, four rebounds and five assists.
Rockhurst shot 35.6 percent from the field (21 of 59) and 57.9 percent from the foul line (11 of 19). Truman State made 22-of-61 field goals (36.1 percent) and 16-of-24 free throws. Kennedy Martin paced the Bulldogs with 19 points.
