The Rockhurst Hawks (2-2) meet the Newman Jets (1-4) for the second year in a row in a 3 p.m. game today at Mason-Halpin Field House.
The Jets posted a 92-64 victory over Rockhurst last year in Wichita, Kansas.
Malachi Nix led the Hawks with 20 points. Newman is a member of the Heartland Conference.
The Hawks are coming off an 85-74 loss at Missouri Southern Tuesday night. Freshman guard
Undra Wilson led Rockhurst with 16 points and five assists.
Travis House scored 13 points and
Mason Loewen added 10 points.

Gabe Brown posted a team-high seven rebounds and three blocked shots. Rockhurst shot 46.9 percent from the field and 94.7 percent on free throws. The Lions outscored Rockhurst, 42-24, in the paint.

Alex Hagan leads the Hawks in scoring (16.7) and rebounding (7.0).

Malachi Nix (10.3) are also averaging in double figures. Hagan ranks 11th in scoring and 12th in rebounding in the GLVC. The Hawks open conference play at home on Thursday (December 1) against Truman State.
The Jets are 1-4 on the season after falling at home to Fort Hays State, 73-65, Tuesday night. Daniel Nwosu, Jr. led Newman with 22 points. The Jets were hot from beyond the arc, sinking 11-of-28 from three-
point range. The 39.3-percent clip was the best performance in a game so far this season for Newman. Nwosu connected on five-of-11 from behind the three-point line and seven-of-15 from the field. Nwosu leads the Jets in scoring (13.8 per game). Taylor Schieber is averaging 11.8 points per game. Kevin Bryant is the team leader in rebounding (7.6 per game.) Mark Potter is 323-208 in his 19th season as the head coach at Newman.
