Top-ranked Hawks grab 2-1 win at Bellarmine

Box Score The No. 1-ranked Rockhurst Hawks allowed their first goal in 600 minutes, but still came away with a 2-1 victory over Bellarmine Friday night in Louisville, Kentucky.

The win leaves the Hawks at 10-0-1 overall and 8-0-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference heading into a 1 vs. 2 showdown at 19th-ranked Southern Indiana on Sunday.

Gianluca Bottoni scored on a direct kick from 22 yards out to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute. It was Bottoni's second goal of the season.

Kaleb Jackson made it 2-0 with his seventh goal of the season in the 16th minute. Jackson tracked down a long pass from Chi Ngwefang and put in a shot past the keeper at the far post. Bellarmine cut the lead in half with a penalty kick three minutes later.

The Hawks finished with 12 shots and five shots on goal. Bottoni, Jackson and Mitch Moncada each posted three shots to lead the Hawks. Logan Feldmann finished with five saves for Rockhurst.
