Bottoni carries Hawks to 3-0 win in GLVC Tournament

Box Score Gianluca Bottoni scored two goals and assisted on another goal to carry sixth-ranked Rockhurst to a 3-0 victory over Maryville in a first-round quarterfinal game in the 2016 Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship Tournament Sunday at Bourke Field.

The top-seeded Hawks (15-2-1) will meet fifth-seeded Quincy in the semifinals of the GLVC Tournament at 1:30 p.m. (Central time) Friday (November 4) at the Michael A. Carroll Track and Soccer Stadium in Indianapolis.

Bottoni scored both of his goals in the second half. His first goal came on a 26-yard shot in the 61st minute with an assist from Brian O'Neal. Bottoni came back four minutes later to score on a 14-yard shot with assists from Kaleb Jackson and Mitch Moncada. Bottoni's direct kick from 45 yards out set up the Hawks' first goal. Jackson headed in a shot from six yards out off a left cross from Michael Panarisi in the 32nd minute.

Rockhurst finished with 18 shots and 11 shots on goal. Bottoni led the Hawks with four shots and three shots on goal. Filippo Santandrea collected three shots. Jackson and Derek Schrick each had two shots. Logan Feldmann posted his 10th shutout of the season.
