Hawks finish with 3-0 record at Mizuno Midwest Region Crossover

Morgan Rietzke combined for 30 kills in wins over Wayne State and Michigan Tech.

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Rockhurst posted wins over Wayne State and Michigan Tech on Saturday to finish with a 3-0 record in the Midwest Region Crossover in Aurora, Illinois.

The Hawks pulled out a dramatic 3-2 win over top-seeded Wayne State. Rockhurst overcame four match points to win the final two sets, 28-26 and 17-15. The Hawks won the first set 25-19 before dropping the second and third sets, 25-19 and 25-16.

Morgan Rietzke led the Hawks with 17 kills and nine digs. Mary Rolf and Karli Reichert combined for 16 kills and 13 blocks. Anne Hellwege collected a team-high 23 digs. Kali Arnold added 13 digs. Grace Carter (21) and Lily Thornberg (18) combined for 39 assists.

Rockhurst came back to swept Michigan Tech, 3-0, winning by 25-16, 27-25 and 25-22 scores. Rietzke paced the Hawks with 14 kills and eight digs. Alyssa Woodman and Mattie Gray combined for 22 kills. Thornberg (22) and Carter (20) led the team in assists. Hellwege and Blake Berhorst both finished with 13 digs.

Rietzke was named to the Mizuno Midwest Region Crossover All-Tournament team.

The Hawks (17-4, 8-1 GLVC) return home to host Missouri-St. Louis on Friday, October 21.
