Box Score Rockhurst could not overcome a third-quarter run by Bellarmine in falling to the Knights 85-77 Saturday at Mason-Halpin Field House.
Bellarmine went on a 22-2 run while outscoring the Hawks 35-12 in the third quarter to take a 60-53 lead into the final frame. Rockhurst pulled with two points twice in the fourth quarter before the Knights ended the game on a 15-9 run.
The Hawks shot 44.4 percent from the field in the first half to take a 41-25 halftime lead. Rockhurst also made 15 of 22 free throws in the first 20 minutes.
Lauren Meyers led the Hawks with 21 points, five rebounds and two steals. Meyers made seven-of-12 field goals, including five-of-six 3-pointers. Mary Dineen posted 18 points and five assists. Morgan Harwood collected 12 points and nine rebounds. Brittany Meyer added 10 points.
Rockhurst shot 42.2 percent from the field (27 of 64) and 65.4 percent from the free-throw line (17 of 26). Bellarmine made 26-of-60 field goals (43.3 percent) and 27-of-34 free throws (79.4 percent). Sarah Galvin paced the Knights with 22 points and 18 rebounds.
The Hawks, 7-4 and 1-3 in the GLVC, host Central Christian on Monday (January 11).
