Box Score Rockhurst dropped its conference home opener, falling to Southern Indiana 68-54 Thursday night at Mason-Halpin Field House.
The Hawks were outscored 37-26 in the second half after only trailing 31-28 at halftime. Southern Indiana dominated the inside play, outscoring Rockhurst 32-8 in the paint and outrebounding the Hawks 43-26. The Eagles also scored 26 second chance points.
Mary Dineen led the Hawks with 27 points and four assists. Dineen connected on six-of-12 three-point shots. Lauren Meyers posted 11 points and four rebounds. Jillian Myers tallied eight points and six steals. Kendall Hart added a team-high five rebounds.
Rockhurst shot 29.8 percent from the field (17 of 57) and 84.6 percent from the free-throw line (11 of 13). Southern Indiana made 24-of-49 field goals (49.0 percent) and 14-of-23 free throws (60.9 percent). Tanner Marcum paced the Eagles with 25 points and four steals.
The Hawks, 7-3Â and 1-2 in the GLVC, host Bellarmine on Saturday, January 9.
