Box Score Rockhurst could not overcome clutch free throw shooting by Maryville in falling to the Saints, 68-62, Thursday night in St. Louis.
The Saints made 10-of-12 free throws in the fourth quarter while shooting 84.0 percent for the game (21 of 25). The Hawks made 14-of-18 free throws for 77.8 percent accuracy.
Rockhurst went on a 9-0 run early in the second half to take a 39-37 lead on a 3-point shot by Haleigh Cindrich. Maryville closed the third quarter on a 14-7 run to take a five-point advantage into the fourth quarter.
Mary Dineen led the Hawks with 26 points behind eight-of-13 field goal shooting. Dineen drained four-of-five shots from behind the 3-point line. Lauren Meyers posted 13 points and 11 rebounds. Jillian Myers collected seven assists, six steals, six points and four rebounds. Cindrich added six points, five rebounds and three blocks.
Rockhurst shot 36.4 percent from the field on 20-of-55 shooting. Maryville made 20-of-47 field goals (42.6 percent). Ali Ringering paced the Saints with 21 points.
The Hawks, 11-7 and 4-6 in the GLVC, play at Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday (January 30).
