Saints host Hawks in GLVC West battle

The Rockhurst Hawks (11-6, 4-5 GLVC) meet the Maryville Saints (8-8, 2-7 GLVC) in a Great Lakes Valley Conference West Division matchup at 5:30 p.m. Thursday (January 28) in St. Louis. The Saints won their last meeting, 75-67, at Rockhurst on Jan. 31, 2015. Maryville leads the all-time series, 9-1.

Junior guard Mary Dineen leads the Hawks in scoring (17.1, fifth in the GLVC). Dineen also ranks fourth in 3-point field goals made (2.65), sixth in 3-point field goal percentage (45.9) and second in free throw percentage (89.2) in the GLVC. Dineen recently surpassed 1,000 career points and currently has 1,037 career points. Senior forward Lauren Meyers stands 20th in scoring (11.8) and 18th in rebounding (5.6) in the GLVC. Meyers has scored 976 career points.

Sophomore guard Jillian Myers ranks first in steals (3.2), fifth in assists (4.2) and second in assist/turnover ratio in the GLVC. Freshman forward Marisa Lowe ranks third in 3-point field goal made (2.7) and seventh in 3-point field goal percentage (42.7) in the GLVC. Junior center Haleigh Cindrich ranks third in blocked shots (1.65) in the GLVC.

Rockhurst ranks first in 3-point field goals made (8.8), first in blocked shots (4.65), third in turnover margin, fourth in field goal percentage defense (36.5), fourth in free throw percentage (75.2), fifth in scoring defense (60.2) and fifth in 3-point field goal percentage (33.6) in the GLVC.

The Hawks are coming off a 60-59 victory at home over Missouri S&T last Saturday. Myers' fifth steal of the game preserved the victory in the closing seconds. Myers also posted nine points, five rebounds and five assists. Lowe led the Hawks with 15 points behind five-of-10 three-pointers. Cindrich added nine points and nine rebounds. Meyers and Kaci Garman combined for 14 points, 15 rebounds and four blocks.
 
The Saints are coming off an 80-60 loss at Truman State last Saturday. Sophomore guard Ali Ringering led Maryville with 22 points. Senior center Alex Hillyer leads the Saints in scoring (16.4, seventh in GLVC), rebounding (7.7, fourth in GLVC) and blocked shots (1.7, second in GLVC). Ringering ranks 14th in scoring (12.9) in the GLVC.
