Box Score Rockhurst dropped its second home game in three days, suffering a 73-62 loss to Missouri S&T Saturday at Mason-Halpin Field House.
The loss drops the Hawks into a tie for fourth place with S&T in the GLVC West Division with a 4-5 league record.
"We didn't guard good enough to win," said Rockhurst coach Drew Diener. "That is three straight games where teams are shooting around 50 percent on us. That's a bad formula. We need to refocus on that end of the floor."
The Miners shot 55.6 percent from the field in the first half and finished at 50.0 percent overall. S&T used an 18-5 run in the second half to overcome a five-point deficit in taking a 62-54 lead with 5:11 left to play. The Miners ended the game on a 10-3 run over the final three minutes.
Josh Roberts led the Hawks with 16 points on seven-of-17 shooting. Dominique Washington collected 15 points on six-of-eight shooting. Alex Hagan posted a game-high 12 rebounds. Malachi Nix finished with eight points, four rebounds and six assists. Adam Fatkin added eight points.
Rockhurst shot 38.6 percent from the field, 26.3 percent on three-pointers and and 59.1 percent from the foul line.
S&T outrebounded the Hawks, 37-31. Zach Ellis paced the Miners with 18 points.
The Hawks, now 9-8 overall, play at Maryville on Thursday (January 28).
