Miners bring strong offense to Rockhurst

Freshman Austin LeVan ranks third in 3-point field goals made in the GLVC.
The Rockhurst Hawks (9-7, 4-4 GLVC) host the Missouri S&T Miners (7-10, 3-5 GLVC) in their lone meeting of the season at 3 p.m. Saturday at Mason-Halpin Field House. Rockhurst has won the last two meetings and lead the all-time series, 18-11.

"Missouri S&T employs an up-tempo, pressing style of play that we need to have success against. Ball security will be crucial." said Rockhurst coach Drew Diener. "They can put points on the board real fast against teams that turn it over. They use a lot of guys to keep their pressure fresh. It will be a great test for us."

Senior forward Dominique Washington leads the Hawks in scoring (19.6). Junior guard Malachi Nix ranks first in assists (5.6), sixth in minutes played (32.75), ninth in steals (1.6) and 21st in scoring (13.2) in the GLVC. Freshman guard Austin LeVan ranks 22nd in scoring (13.0), third in 3-point field goals made (2.6) and second in free throw percentage (91.9) in the GLVC. Sophomore forward Alex Hagan stands fourth in field goal percentage (60.0) and 12th in rebounding (6.6) in the GLVC. Junior forward Adam Fatkin ranks 10th in field goal percentage (57.1) in the GLVC.

The Hawks rank second in 3-point field goal percentage defense (30.3), second in scoring defense (70.6), fourth in field goal percentage defense (42.7) and fourth in free throw percentage (75.2) in the GLVC.


Rockhurst rallied from a double-digit deficit in the last 10 minutes to tie Drury late before falling to the Panthers, 67-62, Thursday night at Mason-Halpin. Drury closed the game on a 7-2 run after Washington tied the game at on a layup with 2:13 left to play. Washington led the Hawks with 23 points, including 19 points in the second half. Alex Hagan posted his second double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Josh Roberts collected eight points and four assists.

The Miners are coming off a 93-89 loss at William Jewell Thursday night. Freshman guard Allen Billinger S&T with 18 points. Senior forward B.J. McLaughlin leads the Miners in scoring (15.2, 11th in GLVC). Junior forward Rokas Paulauskas is the team leader in rebounding (7.5, ninth in GLVC). Sophomore guard Juwan Miller ranks second in the GLVC in assists (4.5).
