Late first-half run carries Drury past Hawks

Lauren Meyers posted her first double-double of the season with 15 points and 15 rebounds.

Rockhurst could not recover from a late first-half run by Drury in falling to the 19th-ranked Lady Panthers, 82-64, Thursday night at Mason-Halpin Field House.

Drury closed the first half on a 19-6 run to take a 39-27 halftime lead. The Lady Panthers drained four three-pointers in less than four minutes to jump out to a 20-point lead in the third quarter.

Mary Dineen led the Hawks with 17 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Lauren Meyers posted her first double-double of the season with 15 points and 15 rebounds.

Freshman Marisa Lowe scored 12 points behind four-of-six three-pointers. Jillian Myers collected eight points, four rebounds and four assists. Haleigh Cindrich added seven rebounds and five blocks.

Rockhurst shot 35.1 percent from the field on 20-of-57 shooting and 83.3 percent at the foul line (15 of 18).

Drury made 29-of-65 field goals (44.6 percent) and 11-of-18 free throws (61.1 percent). Alice Heinzler paced the Lady Panthers with 24 points and seven 3-pointers.

The Hawks, 10-6 and 3-5 in the GLVC, host Missouri S&T on Saturday (January 23).
