Box Score Rockhurst held Illinois Springfield to 15 points in the first half in rolling to a 72-46 victory over the Prairie Stars Thursday night in Springfield, Illinois.
The Hawks jumped out to a 21-7 lead after the first quarter and went into halftime with a 38-15 lead. Rockhurst held Springfield to 18.2 percent shooting in the first half on six-of-33 field goals.
Mary Dineen led the Hawks with 14 points, three assists and two steals. Jillian Myers collected 11 points, six rebounds and three assists. Brittany Meyer posted 10 points, four rebounds and four assists. Lauren Meyers added nine points and seven rebounds.
Morgan Harwood collected a team-high seven rebounds in her second start of the season. Five freshmen combined to score 31 points off the bench for the Hawks.
Rockhurst shot 46.3 percent from the field (25 of 54) and 75.0 percent from the free-throw line (15 of 20). Springfield made 15-of-60 field goals (25.0 percent) and 15-of-28 free throws (53.6 percent). Syerra Cunningham paced the Prairie Stars with 16 points and seven rebounds.
The Hawks, 9-4 and 2-3 in the GLVC, play at McKendree on Saturday (January 16).
