Box Score Rockhurst only found the net on one of its 28 shots in settling for a 1-1 tie with Upper Iowa in the Hawks' season opener Friday night at RU's Bourke Field.

The Hawks scored in less than four minutes to take an early 1-0 lead. Freshman Jessica Smelcer scored from six yards out off a direct kick from Nicole Keeve at the 3:39 mark. Upper Iowa knotted the score in the 71st minute.

Kristin Wolff led the Hawks with five shots. Jessica Cook and Courtney Silberberg each posted four shots. Julia Bartolacci and Mia Zanaboni added three shots apiece. Rockhurst held Upper Iowa to six shots.

The Hawks, 0-0-1, host Nebraska-Kearney, 0-0-1, at noon on Sunday
