Women’s Soccer hosts Upper Iowa in opener; Live Stream and Stats Available

Courtney Silberberg is one of nine returning starters for the Hawks.

The Rockhurst women's soccer team will host Upper Iowa their 2015 season opener at 6:30 p.m. Friday (Sept. 4) at RU's Bourke Field.

The Hawks are coming off a 14-2-3 record in 2014. Rockhurst are picked to finish second in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll after finishing fourth in the GLVC last year.

Head coach Greg Herdklick returns nine starters from last year's team, led by All-GLVC senior forwards Brandi Van Booven and Julia Bartolacci. Van Booven and Bartolacci combined for 16 goals and 24 points last year. Returning in the midfield is All-GLVC third teamer Courtney Silberberg, Kristin Wolff and Maria Merlo. Senior Caitlin Winschel posted 10 shutouts and 51 saves last year as the starting goalkeeper.

Rockhurst will also host Nebraska-Kearney at noon Sunday (Sept. 6) and Washburn at 7:00 on Wednesday (Sept. 9).
