Lexie Zuniga combined for two home runs and four RBI to lead Rockhurst to 4-0 and 4-1 wins over Saint Joseph's Saturday at Loyola Park.
Zuniga smashed a solo home run to center field in the sixth inning in Game 1. She came back in the second game to hit a three-run home run over the fence in right field in the third inning. Zuniga leads the Hawks with five home runs and 10 RBI on the season.
In the opener, the Hawks scored three runs in the fourth on a two-run double by
Gabbie Boerema and a run-scoring single by
Alex Hill.
Demi Plathe (4-2) threw her first shutout of the season. She allowed four hits and one walk while striking out three.
Bridgette Sappington (9-3) won her fifth consecutive game covering the past six days in the nightcap. She gave up one run on six hits and one walk.
Zuniga led the Hawks with two hits in the second game. Boerema added an RBI bunt single in the sixth.
Rockhurst, 13-7 and 4-2 in the GLVC, will host 12th-ranked Indianapolis on Sunday.
