Hawks fall short at 11th-ranked Drury

Mary Dineen led the Hawks with 22 points.
Box Score Drury held off a late Rockhurst rally to edge the Hawks 71-68 Saturday in Springfield, Mo. Rockhurst outscored the 11th-ranked Lady Panthers 8-1 over the final 31 seconds.

A pair of 3-pointers from Lauren Meyers and Becca Strobbe cut Drury's lead to 71-66 with 16 seconds left. A Drury turnover was followed by a jumper from Mary Dineen with six seconds left. The Lady Panthers beat the Rockhurst press and ran out the final six seconds.

Dineen led the Hawks with 22 points on nine-of-17 shooting. Taylor Skala posted 10 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals. Lauren Meyers collected nine points, seven rebounds and four assists. Kendall Hart tallied nine points, four rebounds and three assists. Jillian Myers added nine points and two steals.

Rockhurst shot 43.9 percent from the field (25 of 57) and 64.3 percent from the free-throw line (9 of 14). Drury made 22-of-53 field goals (41.5 percent) and 21-of-25 free throws (84.0 percent). Sanayika Shields paced the Lady Panthers with 16 points.

The Hawks, 11-14 and 5-12 in the GLVC, close out the season at William Jewell on Thursday, Feb. 26.
