Women's Lacrosse opens season at home on Saturday

With inclement weather approaching Kansas City, Rockhurst has moved the women's lacrosse game scheduled for 4 p.m. start to noon on Saturday. Additionally, the men's lacrosse team will now play at home as well on Saturday at 4 p.m.
 
The forecast for Saturday will be partly cloudy with a high of 38 degrees. There is a 10 percent chance of precipitation and a 10 mph wind. Temperatures are expected to fall to 15 degrees at night.
 
The Rockhurst women will take on Lindenwood University out of St. Charles, Mo., in the Hawks' first action of 2015. This will also be Molly McCourt's first match as head coach. She was named head coach of the Hawks on Jan. 20, 2015. McCourt previously served as the head coach of the Wales women's national lacrosse team from 2011-14. She guided Wales to a fifth-place finish in the 2013 World Cup and second place in the 2012 European Championship.
 
The men's lacrosse team will take on the University of Dubuque out of Dubuque, Iowa. The Hawks are coming off a 21-4 victory over Fontbonne where 11 players scored goals. Freshman Jake Martin fueled the Hawks' attack with six goals and two assists. Additionally, freshman Michael Beckham collected four goals and five assists. Coach Kevin Kelley looks to carry over success in faceoffs. Freshman Ian Meister won 17 of 21 faceoffs. During one faceoff, he went coast-to-coast and scored a goal.
