Hawks advance to regional finals with 3-2 win over Lewis

Box Score Rockhurst earned a ticket to the 2015 NCAA Midwest Regional finals with a hard-earned 3-2 victory over 20th-ranked Lewis in the a regional semifinal match Friday in Big Rapids, Michigan.

The Hawks won the fifth set by a 15-11 score, along with posting 25-19 wins in the second and third sets. Lewis won the first set, 29-27, and the fourth set, 25-19.

The seventh-ranked Hawks (33-3) will play second-ranked Ferris State in the Midwest Regional championship game on Saturday at 4 p.m. CST in Big Rapids.

"This was a tough match, but the team persevered and showed some heart," said Rockhurst coach Tracy Rietzke. "We have another tough one tomorrow, but we look forward to the challenge."

Katie Loescher led the Hawks with 21 kills and a .488 hitting percentage. Preecy Seever collected 15 kills and seven blocks. Morgan Rietzke added 12 kills and 15 digs. Alyssa Arnold posted eight kills, 20 digs and three blocks. Anne Hellwege had a team-high 24 digs, while Lauren Poulicek tallied 17 digs. Whitney Kostal finished with 59 assists, eight digs and four blocks.
