Box Score Senior Day ended on a positive note for the Rockhurst women Sunday at Bourke Field. The Hawks posted a 2-0 victory over Saint Joseph's to move up in the conference standings. With three games left in the regular season, Rockhurst is tied for sixth place with a 6-4-2 record in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
Freshman
Jessica Smelcer gave the Hawks a 1-0 lead with her third goal of the season in the 58th minute. Smelcer's goal was a header from five yards out with assists from
Courtney Silberberg and
Mackenzie Moore. Silberberg tallied her sixth goal of the season in the 61st minute off a corner kick from
Nicole Keeve.
Rockhurst held the Pumas to one shot while collecting 23 shots. Smelcer, Moore and
Kinsley Fitzpatrick led the Hawks with three shots apiece. Silberberg added three shots. Senior goalkeeper
Caitlin Winschel posted her fourth shutout of the season.
The Hawks, 6-4-5 overall, play at Lewis (Friday) and Wisconsin-Parkside (Sunday) next weekend.
