Box Score Rockhurst rallied from a 15-point deficit before falling to Southern Indiana, 76-70, Sunday in Evansville, Ind. The Hawks outscored the Screaming Eagles 20-11 over the final 10 minutes.
Southern Indiana broke a 44-44 tie by going on a 21-6 run to take a 65-50 lead with 10:17 left in the game. The Hawks pulled within two points, 72-70, at the 1:06 mark on a 3-pointer by
Kendall Hart. The Eagles made four free throws in the final minute.
Lauren Meyers,
Mary Dineen and Hart combined for 50 points to lead the Hawks. The trio made 19-of-41 field goals, including nine of 23 from behind the 3-point line.
Meyers posted 18 points and five rebounds. Dineen and Hart each finished with 16 points and four 3-point field goals.
Jillian Myers collected a team-high seven rebounds and four steals.
Rockhurst shot 42.4 percent from the field (28 of 66), while Southern Indiana made 27-of-53 field goals (50.9 percent). The Eagles outscored Rockhurst from the free-throw line, 17-3.
The Hawks, 6-5 and 0-3 in the GLVC, return home to host Saint Joseph's on Thursday, Jan. 8.
