Box Score Rockhurst could not overcome an eight-point halftime deficit in falling to Truman State, 72-66, Saturday at the Pershing Arena in Kirksville, Mo.
Truman scored the first nine points of the game and led 20-8 with 12:30 left in the first half. Rockhurst outscored the Bulldogs 21-17 in the final 12-plus minutes of the first half. The Hawks pulled within five points, 66-61, with 1:25 left in the game. Truman made all six of its free throws to hold off Rockhurst.
Kendall Hart led the Hawks with 20 points and six rebounds.
Lauren Meyers posted 17 points and seven rebounds.
Mary Dineen collected 15 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Laura Wilson and
Taylor Skala added three steals apiece.
Rockhurst shot 30.9 percent from the field (17 of 55) and 89.7 percent from the free-throw line (26 of 29). Truman made 24-of-55 field goals (43.6 percent) and 21-of-25 free throws (84.0 percent). Allie Norton paced Truman with 23 points and five assists.
The Hawks, 8-9 and 2-7 in the GLVC, return home to host Missouri-St. Louis on Thursday, Jan. 29.
