Early run leads sixth-ranked Bellarmine past Hawks

Dominique Washington led the Hawks with 13 points.
Box Score Sixth-ranked Bellarmine jumped on Rockhurst early on the way to a decisive 73-56 victory over the Hawks Friday night in Louisville, Ky. The loss drops the Hawks to 0-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

Rockhurst only trailed 13-12 in the first eight and a half minutes of the game. The Knights used a 15-0 run to take a 28-12 lead before going into halftime with a commanding 41-23 lead.

Dominique Washington paced the Hawks with 13 points and five rebounds. Joshua Brannon posted eight points and five rebounds. Russell Burns added eight points and four rebounds. The Hawks' guards combined for three points while shooting 0-of-17 from the field.

Bellarmine made 27-of-34 free throws while Rockhurst went seven-of-12 at the charity stripe. The Hawks shot 32.3 percent from the field (21 of 65). Rockhurst, 4-6, plays at Southern Indiana on Sunday, Jan. 4.
