Hawks fall short against 14th-ranked Drury

Mary Dineen led the Hawks with 25 points.
Box Score Rockhurst fell short of upsetting 14th-ranked Drury despite hitting 12 3-point shots Thursday night. The Lady Panthers scored 18 unanswered points to rally for an 83-77 victory over the Hawks at Mason-Halpin Field House.

The Hawks opened the second half on a 10-0 run to grab a 48-45 lead. A jumper by Becca Strobbe gave Rockhurst a 59-52 lead at the 11:32 mark.

Rockhurst went scoreless over the next eight-plus minutes as Drury rallied for a 70-59 lead. The Lady Panthers made their last 11 points from the free-throw line to hold for their 28th consecutive win over the Hawks.

Mary Dineen led the Hawks with 25 points on nine-for-16 shooting. She made five 3-point shots and collected five assists. Jillian Myers posted 16 points, eight rebounds and three steals. Lauren Meyers added 12 points and six rebounds.

Rockhurst shot 47.5 percent from the field (28 of 59) and 64.3 percent from the free-throw line (9 of 14). Drury made 25-of-55 field goals (45.5 percent) and 28-of-40 free throws (70.0 percent). The Lady Panthers outscored the Hawks, 32-22, in the paint.

The Hawks, 7-7 and 1-5 in the GLVC, host Missouri S&T on Saturday, Jan. 17.
