Hawks post first-ever victory in men's lacrosse

Box Score The Rockhurst Hawks posted their first-ever victory in men's lacrosse with a 9-8 victory over Fontbonne Tuesday night in St. Louis, Mo.

Rockhurst rallied from a 4-0 deficit to take a 7-5 lead at halftime. Elija Gaea scored his second goal of the game to give the Hawks their first lead of the night (6-5) late in the second period.

Freshman Peter Hummel scored his second goal of the game to give Rockhurst a 9-6 lead in the third period. John McDonough tallied his second goal earlier in the third period.

The Hawks outshot Fontbonne, 55-34. McDonough and Daniel Shovlain led the Hawks with 12 shots apiece. Hummel added 11 shots and two assists. Freshman goalkeeper Zach McGuff collected eight saves.

Rockhurst will return to action on Saturday at Missouri Valley.
