Box Score Rockhurst fell behind by 17 points early in the second half in falling to William Jewell 75-58 in a Great Lakes Conference opener Thursday night at RU's Mason-Halpin Field House.
The Cardinals opened the second half on a 15-2 run to take a 51-34 lead with 13:41 left in the game. Jewell outscored the Hawks 32-20 in the paint and 22-7 on second-chance points while winning the rebound battle, 52-20.
Sophomore guard
Mary Dineen led the Hawks with 21 points and nine rebounds. Dineen made seven-of-17 field goals, including five-of-nine 3-pointers. All 12 of her second-half points came on 3-point baskets.
Lauren Meyers collected 15 points, five rebounds and four assists.
Kendall Hart added nine points, four rebounds and two steals. Rockhurst shot 33.3 percent from the field (19 of 57) and 64.7 percent from the foul line (11 of 17).
The Hawks (4-3, 0-1 GLVC) host Haskell on Saturday night.
