Taylor Skala has been selected to the 2014 Capital One Academic All-America® NCAA Division II Women's Soccer First Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
A biology major with a 3.89 GPA, Skala is now a two-time Capital One Academic All-America® selection. She was a Capital One Academic All-America® Third Team honoree in 2012.
Skala led the Hawks to a 14-2-3 record while collecting 16 goals and 36 points. The Long Grove, Ill., native led the GLVC in goals and points. She was named the GLVC Offensive Player of the Year and earned All-GLVC honors for the fourth year in a row. The 2011 GLVC Freshman of the Year finished her career with school records in career goals (48) and career points (108).
To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
The Capital One Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2014-15 Division II Academic All-America® teams program.
