Box Score Maryville jumped out to a 19-point lead in the first half and held off a Rockhurst rally in the second half to post an 81-71 victory over the Hawks Thursday night in St. Louis, Mo.
Rockhurst pulled with six points, 64-58, with 7:14 left in the game after going on a 24-15 run over seven minutes. The Saints went on a 7-2 run to take a 71-60 lead. The Hawks never pulled closer than nine in the final five minutes.
Kendall Hart led three Hawks in double figures with 19 points on six-of-10 shooting. She scored 13 points in the second half behind three-of-six three-point shooting.
Lauren Meyers finished with 18 points, four rebounds and two steals.
Mary Dineen added 14 points and three assists.
Allison Streich paced Rockhurst with eight rebounds.
Staci Thomas posted a team-high four assists. Rockhurst shot 36.4 percent (24 of 66) from the field and 80 percent (20 of 25) from the free-throw line.
Maryville shot 41.2 percent from the field (21 of 51) and 75 percent (30 of 40) from the charity stripe.
Rockhurst, 6-12 and 1-9 in the GLVC, next plays at Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday at 1 p.m.
