Hawks drop conference home opener to USI

Allison Streich posted seven points and four rebounds off the bench.
Box Score Southern Indiana held Rockhurst to 26.8 percent shooting in posting a 70-44 victory over the Hawks in a conference home opener Friday night at RU's Mason-Halpin Field House.

The Screaming Eagles closed the first half on an 11-3 run to take a 31-19 halftime lead. Southern Indiana opened the second half on an 18-5 run over seven minutes to grab a 49-24 lead.

Rockhurst made 15 of 56 field goals, while Southern Indiana hit 24 of 49 shots (40.7 percent). The Eagles also won the rebound battle, 45-38. Four players, led by Anna Heckert's 13 points, scored in double figures for Southern Indiana.

Kendall Hart led the Hawks with 12 points while hitting four-of-11 three-point shots. Allison Streich came off the bench to supply seven points, four rebounds and two steals. Freshman Haleigh Cindrich added a team-high seven rebounds and two blocked shots.


The Hawks, 5-5 and 0-2 in the GLVC, host Bellarmine on Sunday, Jan. 5 at 1 p.m.
