Hawks collect 42-39 win over Illinois Springfield

Box Score Rockhurst rallied from an eight-point halftime deficit to defeat llinois Springfield 42-39 Thursday night at RU's Mason-Halpin Field House. The Hawks improved their conference record to 4-8 heading into a Saturday home game with Quincy.

The Hawks took their first lead of the second half at 38-37 on a three-pointer from MaKayla Grahn with 2:36 left to play. It was only three-point field goal by the Hawks, who missed their first nine three-point shots. Rockhurst made four-of-six free throws in the final 34 seconds.

Kara McFarland led the Hawks with 12 points, seven rebounds and three blocks. Allison Streich collected nine points and five rebounds. Taylor Skala added six points, five rebounds, three steals and three assists. Melanie Siscos posted a team-high eight rebounds.

Rockhurst, 7-13 overall, shot 32.0 percent from the field (16 of 50 field goals). Springfield, which led 24-16 at halftime, made 15-of-45 shots for 33.3 percent shooting.
