Hawks drop season finale at home to Jewell

Box Score William Jewell put a damper on Senior Night at Rockhurst by cruising to an 82-50 victory over the Hawks Thursday night at RU's Mason-Halpin Field House. The Cardinals made up for a 67-46 loss at home to Rockhurst on Jan. 21 by shooting 56.6 percent from the field (30 of 53) and 61.9 percent from three-point range (13 of 21).

The Hawks fell behind 19-2 in the first five minutes of the game. After Rockhurst scored nine unanswered points, Jewell went on a 20-4 run to take a 39-15 lead. The Hawks opened the second half on a 20-13 run to cut Jewell's lead to 59-42 with 11:02 left in the game. Jewell proceeded to score the next 12 points to take a 71-42 lead.

Kendall Hart paced the Hawks with 15 points on six-of-12 shooting. Hart made three-of-six shots from behind the three-point line. Lauren Meyers collected 10 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Kara McFarland posted nine points and six rebounds her final college game. Allison Streich also grabbed six rebounds.Taylor Skala finished with seven points, four rebounds and three steals.

McFarland, Shelby Geiman and MaKayla Grahn were honored in Senior Night festitvities after the game. The Hawks, who won the rebound battle 38-34, finish out the season with a 7-19 overall record and 4-14 conference record.
