Missouri S&T holds off Rockhurst in Rolla

Box Score Rockhurst could not overcome a cold-shooting first half in falling to Missouri S&T 56-43 Monday night in Rolla, Mo. The loss eliminates the Hawks from the upcoming GLVC Tournament.

Missouri S&T led 25-14 at halftime as the Hawks hit five of 21 field goals in the first half. The Hawks made nine-of-22 shots in the second half to finish with a 32.6 percent shooting night.

The Miners posted their fourth consecutive win over the Hawks, who rallied from 17 points down early in the second half to pull within seven points, 35-28, with 9:56 left in the game. S&T hit back-to-back three-pointers to take a 13-point lead with less than six minutes left to play.

S&T shot 52.2 percent in the second half to finish at 37.5 percent. The Miners also tied a season-high with 12 steals and outrebounded the Hawks 35-27.

David Wingerson led the Hawks with 10 points, four rebounds and two steals. Michael Osepa and James Robinson both finished with eight points and six rebounds. Cooper Beckett added seven points and two steals.

The Hawks, 4-20 and 3-14 in the GLVC, host William Jewell in their final game of the season on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Senior Brett Hornung will be honored before the start of his final home game.
