Hawks fall short in double overtime at UMSL

Taylor Skala led the Hawks with four steals while scoring 10 points.
Box Score Missouri-St. Louis made eight-of-12 free throws in the second overtime to edge Rockhurst 64-62 Saturday in St. Louis, Mo. The loss drops the Hawks two games behind Drury for the final spot in the GLVC Tournament with three games left to play.

Rockhurst led early in the second overtime, 56-54, on a pair of free throws from Kendall Hart. The Hawks, who turned the ball over three times in the final three minutes, cut the UMSL lead to 63-62 on a three-point basket by Kara McFarland with four seconds left. Rockhurst's Taylor Skala forced a second extra period when she made a layup with 12 seconds left in the first overtime. The Tritons hit a three-pointer to tie the score with 39 seconds left in the second half.

McFarland finished with a team-high 17 points, in addition to collecting nine rebounds and two steals. Hart came off the bench to post 14 points and five rebounds. Skala collected 10 points, five rebounds, four steals and three assists. Allison Streich added eight points and nine rebounds.

Rockhurst shot 36.2 percent from the field (21 of 58 field goals) and 69.2 percent from the foul line (18 of 26). The Hawks, 7-16 overall and 4-11 in the GLVC, play at Missouri S&T on Thursday, Feb. 21 at 5:30 p.m.
